The Coalition of All Progressives
Congress Support Groups has advised
the governorship candidate of the
party in Delta State , Great Ogboru, not
to waste time and resources in
challenging the outcome of last
Saturday ’s election in court .
Addressing journalists on Friday in
Asaba , the convener of the group,
Daniel Ekiugbo, said the result
declared by the Independent National
Electoral Commission reflected the
wishes of the people of the state.
He urged the APC leadership in the
state and Ogboru to drop their plan to
challenge the outcome of the election
in court .
The coalition noted that the
incumbent, Peoples Democratic Party
candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, won the
election.
Ekiugbo said , “ It is obvious that
challenging the outcome will be a wild
goose chase , the margin is too wide for
any sane person to think of
challenging it.
“ Ogboru had been challenging
electoral victories in the past on
allegations of being rigged out.
“ This time round, the national
leadership of the APC provided a level
playing field so that he would not be
rigged out this time , but he was
overwhelmed, winning in just two out
of 25 local government areas.”
The coalition called on the APC
National Working Committee to set up
a panel of enquiry to review the
overall performance of the party in
the elections in Delta State .
